I was informed by my dealer yesterday that my right front tire caught a nail. The dealer does not want to patch/plug the tire. Is there any tire shop in NYC/NJ area that would do it? Thanks in advance for any info.
If it is near the edge of the tread or in the sidewall, the dealer is 100% right, IMO. But, if it is well within the tread, patches seem to work OK. If I ever need one patched, it will be from the inside and not a plug. Most of the tire chains like NTW and Discount Tires will repair RFT, but their first option will be to plug. If you insist, they will patch from the inside.

I have not seen the car yet. It's been in the dealer's hands since Tuesday. The car needed another engine repair. Second in 14 months. They noticed a nail in the left front tire. There was not any warning from FTM or any air leak before I broght car in for repairs. I believe the tire sidewall is not damaged otherwise FTM would probably catch it.

Might be different rules in the US, but my understanding was that Run Flats cannot be repaired; once theyve lost pressure and relied on the sidewall, even if for a short distance, the tyre must be replaced.
On my last E60 I ended up having 2 changed because the tyreshop wouldn't repair them; I called Goodyear's customer service line and they confirmed that their advice to tyre shops was never to attempt a puncture repair on RFTs.
Needless to say, I've had the RFTs swapped for 'ordinary' tyres on this E60!
