I wish I had known! I'm new to Cali, so I just ended up going to the local dealer. In hindsight I should have shopped around a bit more.

Anyhow, I went to the Les Schwab on Northgate Blvd. They seemed to do a decent job, no scratches or damage to the rim.

I've seen it recommended to do both a plug and a patch, but it has to be the right kind of plug. Here is what Goodyear has for policy regarding repair of speed rated tires on police cars:

Runflat or not, it's probably the best & safest solution.
