Remember -- you said you were going to drive "carefully" ... I was too, 40mph in a 50mph zone and about 1/2 mile from my home. The good news, with the BMWCCA discount a replacement tire, wheel and installation was less than $800. No big deal - I'm more annoyed that our county government has repeatedly [almost every month for the past two years!] performed TEMPORARY repairs on this section of road. IMHO, I'm not an engineer or ROAD EXPERT, doing it correctly ONCE would have saved taxpayers a ton of money and me a wheel and tire.

I don't know if a "Letter to the Editor" of our area newspapers with this example of waste and mismanagement would get some attention. At the very least it would make me feel better!

RFT SUCK. I had the same thing happen to me the first week I had my car. To me they seem more prone to pothole damage since they are stiffer and have less give. I ditched them about six months into my new car.

The Wheel and Tire insurance packages are great for peace of mind, I remember one member earlier last year having to replace a couple of tires and a wheel ..........insurance cost was something like $800 , the replaced tires and wheel were north of $1200...............it seems like the last thing you want to buy when you're picking up your car but it's great value ......
Good Luck

Does this type of claim count against your insurance? I had similar thing happen to me and not sure how to handle it. thanks
I believe it does and if it where me I would buy the wheel insurance from BMW, which I have, and not put a claim through the insurance. I would make the report like you did and attempt to get the city to pay for the damages.

Rick.

Yup ... my damage happened while I procrastinated about buying the insurance. My procrastination ended 24 hours after I met the pothole. Better late than never!

Does the BMW insurance cover anything that might happen to damage the tires/rims? Are there any exceptions?
