I need to know what to expect when taking ED in Jan. Will BMW really let me drive off the lot with run flats in snowy or icy conditions, or will they swap out the tires for all season radials? Do I have a choice, or must I just drive extra carefully?

I'm not really that concerned about it, but wondering what to expect. I'm assuming they will deliver with RF's. Anyone say different?

You'll get the RFT's and NO winter tires.
Munich and Bavaria is pretty cold and there will probably be snow. As long as you stay on the highway (Autobahn) and don't speed you should be fine. Our highways are getting cleaned from ice and snow. They use salt to get rid of the ice, but driving carefully is necessary, espacially when you are not used to driving in such conditions, but I guess you are, since Chicago can be really cold, snowy and icy too . Before the drop off at Harms I would use a car wash and get the bottom done too, just to get rid of the salt!
I wouldn't drive towards the Alpes. Maybe you are lucky and there is no snow in Bavaria, but in the Alpes you'll definately get in someserious problems.

Alps are definitely not on the itinerary Thanks again, Iceman!
