I removed mine about 3 weeks ago and have not noticed any adverse affects. I thought only US cars have the filter Have you actually opened up the air box and seen the extra filter?

no but when i was in for some work i had asked the servies advisor if the UAE cars had one .. he wasent to sure but he said yes

dust is not really a problem here .. its humid most of the year .. im not sure if i should take it out since my dealer goes by the book for evey tiny thing .. for instance i asked if i change my rims they said you can only get BMW approved rims unless i want to loose my warrenty ... and he is now contacting bmw germany to find out if the style 167 ( M6 rims ) are ok for my car .. so im not to sure if i should do it
You can ask them to renew the filters anytime you want!

Actually you can change the airfilters yourself, just order the units.

My problem is the wintertime when the car is out at -30 C and in the gargage at +30 C.

My AC filters get a lot of dust (from the sanding of the city streets in the winter) and
a lot of tree seamens in the spring.
I.e. hell thrue out the year

So the filters have to be reneved more often than the "official BMW" wants to say and also
the whole AC system needs to be cleaned!
