It would have been interesting to hear the debate by the BMW engineers as to how they finally worked out which way the switch should be.

[/quote]In the M3 there is a setting in the car control memory that the dealer needs to set. Once they set that, the user can choose how far the mirror goes when it is in parallel parking mode. So, if it can be done in the M3, I'm sure it can be done in the e60.

PDC is very useful, BUT only for objects that are:
1. Large
2. HIGH off the ground - try to have a HIGH sitting rock show up on it, or a bicycle laying around, or a shopping bag/soccerball or a HIGH CURB (5"-15" tall)
3. NOT off to the side. yes there is a side sensor, but it does not catch the area near the corner by the rear wheel well/fender - which if parking close to a parking post/street post might damage your fender.
alot of times i just adjust the mirror how i need it when backing in/up, then just hold the seat memory down to return to "driving" position.
