Default Rev fluctuation

Hello again
I hope this finds you all well
I hadn't driven my 2004 E60 525i for a while till Saturday

When I was travelling down the road around 1,500 RPM
The revs started fluctuating about 200 RPM

once I was over 2,000 RPM it went away
At idel the fluctuation was not there

I did a fault check and nothing

I think it is most likely the air sensor but just checking if anyone else had this problem before I spend the money?

Thanks

Default fluctuation update repair success

Hello
Its a little funny story about the repair to my flucuating RPM problem

I went to the dealer to buy a new Air mass flow sensor but the dealer didnt want to sell me one. (This is normal in Japan)

They wanted to do a check of the car to make sure it was the problem.
They suggested that the problem was probably the transmission and not the sensor as no error cars where showing. I told them that the transmission had been rebuilt 4 months ago .
OHHHHH he said that is a perfect reason that suggests the transmission is the problem!!

Hey?

I asked them how much to test the car?
$300.
You have got to be jocking? and drove away

I bought the sensor on ebay for $123 including postage
and took me two minutes to fit

The car runs perfect and the RPM problem has gone away

A dealer doesn't want to sell parts?!?!? That's crazy.

Sadly in Japan the dealers are very powerful. (often) If you dont buy the car from them they wont fix it, or they wont sell you parts.

They do it to try and stop people buying used cars from Non BMW dealerships.
My friend had a similar problem with An A4 he bought at the auctions.
