My Ride: 2004 545i Sport: Titanium Gray on Gray Dakota with Black Poplar Trim, SMG Transmission, Active Steering, Logic 7, Navigation

My 2004 545i has most of the options I wanted, but it doesn't have heated front seats. Does anyone know if the heating elements and dashboard switches could be retrofit to the car (without buying new seats!). There are still a few months of winter left and I miss the bun warmer!

Thanks for any info.

I also have a 2004 545i (just bought it used from a friend) and have the same problem. I have not found a dealership willing to install the heated seats. There are plenty of aftermarket companies that sell kits but I definitely would not mess with anything electrical on these cars. If you are desperate and willing to forgo looks, the attachement below may get you through the winter. Let me know if you came up with any other solution

I have taken the front seat apart and the heating element is a separate component under the leather, but wiring it up is a different issue. If you can find out if the car is prewired then I would say it is worth it to attempt installing it. There was a recall on seat heaters on the early e60s and they had to change elements, so dealers may be familiar with what it takes to do it or if it is prewire.
