Hi Guys,

This error just came up recently.
i don't believe it the mat sensor that sences if your sitting cause it still warns you when driving to belt up after a minute.

I beleive it is actually a belt sensor.
Has anybody had this issue.
would it bee expensive to fix????

It seems a lot of people on here has had that problem at onetime or another. It's one of those things with bmw. Yes it can b expensive I was quoted a price somewhere around 400-600. If u are under warranty then know problem.

Yer, after research the forums i have found what it could be....
  • Battery getting low
  • Faulty Seat Mat
  • Random error code

my set sensors are still working, so it rules out the fualty sensor.
and battery is fine,

I beleive it could be a error code randomly generated or a fault in the actual seat belt pre-tensioners
Hmmm, any ideas??

Is it a general warning or for a particular side (driver/pass)? If its a general, then it could also be your SBK positive cable that may be getting corroded due to which there is high resistance.

Do let us know what it is.

Nah, it is general. it says "Restraint Systemn Faulty"
i have emailed my BMW specialist. He will either get back to me with an answer or a "have to come in for us to take a look".

hi guys

i jus had this problem fixed a few days ago from dealers.....at first i had the lights switched of by independent garage, but it come on again, this happened twice.....so it wasnt a random code in my case. had it checked from dealer, where my mate works. And he advised high resistance in around the explosion cable/battery cable.

worst case, new battery cable at about £100, or he said he thinks its the little wire that attaches to the battery cable, at a cost of £30. so he replaced the cheaper one first, and this seems to have fixed it now.

hope this helps you
