My Ride: 2007 Sapphire Black Metallic 525i. Beige Dakota Leather, Premium package, bluetooth, BMW Assist, Xenon adaptive lights, Sirius radio
Thumbs up

I found this:
Press the mileage reset button in the instument cluster about 10 seconds with the key to on position, until "service" appears, then change selection with a single push
until "engine oil" appears. Keep pushing the "reset " ask yes? and that's all. Next oil change after 15000 mi appears on the idrive "service"menu.
Beware, not to reset another function, there is no way to restore a reseted item.

With the key fob in the ignition do I need to hit the start button without my foot on the brake for the car to be considered "on".

Can I reset Service when the car has BMW ASSIST enabled with communication regarding service enabled as well?

Yes, push the start button once with your foot off the brake. Whether or not you have BMW Assist enabled should make no difference.
