Since you have tried the procedure numerous times without success, and your indicator is RED, I tend to believe the theory that once RED it is not user resettable. Good thing to remember for DIY-ers.

Reset it with a diagnostic software? Indy or maybe some local members can help?

the dealer just responded to my email. he said it should reset regardless of if it's red (over due) or not. but i swear my mechanic can't get it reset and neither can i. we have both did it before and it actually was a piece of cake. i don't get what the problem is now.

This is strange, and I've never heard of it. Make sure you post up what the final result is.

well instead of the interval resetting, it goes to "----" instead, and then back to "-320". some other guy on the internet had the same happen, but i can't find his thread. argh.

Yeah that's completely new to me... Honestly, if I was you I wouldn't mess around much with it and bring it to BMW so it doesn't affect something else (which I really doubt it will but u never know). Don't forget to keep us posted on whatever the result is.

per this video, i get exactly to where the ---- is displayed, but it goes back to my initial reading of -360 instead of resetting to the next interval. i have contacted the dealership and they said it should reset the way i am doing it. i also have an indy mechanic and he tried to do it also and got the same results as i did.

How's the health of the battery? Maybe a weak battery could be the cause.

Well leaving the car radio on for 5 minutes while the engine is off causes a low charge warning. I am charging the battery as I type this.
