I'm having trouble resetting the brake maintenance indicator.

I just had the front and rear pads and rotors replaced on my 04 530i by a local BWM servicer.

I proceeded to reset the maintenance indicator light by holding down the trip button, cycling through to the break option, waiting for the reset dialog and then confirming the reset. The problem is, the mileage number went from 200 miles to "-15000" and now my idrive is telling me that the brake pads have worn past the minimum level.

I've tried several times, each time the mileage goes from "-15000" to "----" back to "-15000"

Can anybody confirm how I would go about resetting the brake pad indicator?

Thanks,
Mike

Did you put new brake wear sensors? Do not reuse old sensors located in the front-left caliper and rear-right caliper.

Your brake wear sensors wire should wear out, go ahead to double check first.

A local BMW servicer did the service. I'll ask them. I know they replaced the sensors.

Hmm...

I changed the front pads & sensor with 400 km's left according to the idrive service menu.

My first reset gave me the result "-15.000 km's - OVERDUE". Switched off the ignition and tried again, which came out successfully

The sensors and wires were replaced.

I've tried at least 15 times to reset the indicator. It went from "-15,000" to "----" back to "-15,000" each time. I've successfully reset the oil indicator, so I know I'm doing something correct.

Does anyone know what would prevent the brake/service indicator from resetting?

Thanks,
Mike

Is this an existing problem or did you get it fixed?
