Carmax is great for buying used. If you find any problems with the car within 30 days, they'll fix it on their tab.

CAR MAX --- huuuh
I bough a 5 series from carmax --
They claimed all their 5000 point inspection and what not.
Drove the car home, enjoyed it.
Drove it next day to get the windows tinted, enjoyed it
Started the car the third day - Didnt start
Gave it a JUMP and everything I could but NO
Got it towed to CarMax, they said its underwarranty take it to BMW they will fix it for you.
I said no way - GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK and take this JUNK and keep it.They tried talking me into keeping the car. I was adamant on returning it.
They finally took it back!
My question is - Why put out trash saying that you inspect your cars and all this kind of stuff when you do nothing right ?

I had my battery replaced about 18 months ago, so when people suggest it might be caused by battery low voltage, I didn?t think it could be my problem.
Well, took the car back to the dealer this week, they checked the code and it was the low voltage, so I had my battery replaced again for $369 and reset the system, the faulty code haven?t return, so far so good.

I have the same error on my car, took it to the dealer and its certianly not the Sensor -- Guess what, its the BST cable
I am going to take care of it later sometime but I just want to say - Its wise to first know exactly what you have to do, rather than doing something you think would solve the problem and spending a lot more money

I ran INPA on my car today and I saw a SIM/SGM 93C3 error which pointed to the OC3 matt. I'm just wondering if a faulty BST cable can cause that error code.

I hear a lot of suggestions and thats good, but personally, I think you are best to cough up the diagnostic fee from the dealer or from someone who can tell you exactly what the problem is. There are multiple reasons for this light and taking the chance buying a part that is probably not cheap to say the least, and then it doesn't fix your problem is a huge risk unless you just have a lot of time and money to toss around...

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.
Seems some of you are having better luck with this then I. Same error and dealer couldn't get 3 of their computers to talk to the SRS computer. They replaced the SRS Computer in the BMW and now it can sync up. Now the dealer can't kill one of the other codes! They apparently are having a difficult time hunting down the issue. Total cost today, $1400... and still another code to sort out. Sigh! I'm so saddened by this news.

I have been plagued with this same issue. Going to the dealer tomorrow, they told me recall did not apply to my car - go figures mine is 12/2005
