Just rolled through 50k an I need to replace the Front Pads and rotors. Any DIY on how to do this ?
Are the brakes the same setup as the 3 series E46... I am sure I can find a DIY for that but not sure if they are the same ? Where is a good place to source pads and rotors from ?
Thanks

If you liked stock brakes, just go to your dealer and get hte replacement parts. You may skip on rotors if thye are still in good condition.

The job is not too difficult, but not as easy as the 3 series (of any year). The brake calipers are a different design and heavier. Opening the calipers after the new pads were installed in order to slide back over the disc was more difficult. That said, the basic steps are the same.

Isn't this covered under the full-maintenance warranty?
http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/bmwind...nce/maintenance
or wasn't this in effect in 04?

I guess no one has changed the pads on a Audi/VW/Mustang....need a special tool to twist and push the calipers back in.
Not fun!
