Ok, my car has been diagnosed with a significant engine oil eak. Today, the dealer ordered a new "oil housing" which they say may be the problem. If that is not the case, they say the only other possibility is a faulty "block" which means I would need to get a brand new engine. My car is a 2005 SMG 530 with 1000 miles.

If the worst becomes reality, what are my options? Do I have any options except to accept the new engine. Would this hurt the resale down the line by showing up on a carfax, etc? I really don't want a new engine in my brand new car. (Of course, if that happens I can always say when I go to sell/trade....75,000 miles, but only 74,000 on new engine.)

Thanks for the advice.

Matt

I'd personally argue fairly aggressively for replacement of the car. Having the engine replaced is very significant. Check your state's lemon law, and see if engine replacement is considered severe enough to be considered "unrepairable."
