Hi members!

I have a million dollar question .

I have to replace the windshield (I will narrate the story in another future message) and I had as stock the double layer, anti-IR .

I can choose between : normal, my stock glass, the reinfornced or the HUD one .

So now is the time to decide for a future HUD retrofit (nick, any news on the retrofit ?) .

My concern is the strength of the glasses . 1 year ago I got a bird on the glass at 135 MPH and no damages .
And just picked up the Mini a rock from a lorry on the bonnet .

The main question is : how much strong is the HUD windshield, compared to the double layer anti IR I have on now ?

And what about the weight of the reinforced compared to the others ?

Thanks, cheers!

i cant help you with deciding on which widshield is stronger but as far as far as the HUD retrofit goes its nearly impossible (expensive). there're a few threads about it that all lead to the same conclusion...

you're talking about a new windshield, replace your dash, get the HUD system... a new computer for your car so it can use the HUD system etc. its just not worth it i believe.

i know that the only difference between a regual windshield and the HUD one is a coating so you dont get a "ghost image" when the HUD bounces the image off the glass....

so your only upgrade i see would be the reinforced glass windshield???

Nicke60gre is attempting to retrofit it : he found all parts for a good price, he said .
(Nick, where are you ?)

Yes, but what about the weight ?

Tomorrow I will try to ask Bmw : months ago I asked them the weight of some wheels and they reported all datas correectly .

Thanks orlee!
