Replace NAV DVD Drive with flash disk?

I assume the Navigation drive has a Parallel ATA or Serial ATA interface so from there, it would be finding the appropriate adapter to replace the drive with a CF or SD card. Tell me just how wrong and asinine my idea is!

actually you really might be onto something. The computer is pretty picky about disc types and the information that is on the disc. You would have to mirror a disk image on the flash drive perfectly.
