I've successfully reset my oil change, microfilter, etc. reminders and understand the process, but I'm still getting the red "replace your rear brake pads" notice after replacing them and the sensors. When I try to reset it, it shows the -15,000 miles notice. Has anyone determined how to reset it when you are getting this message? I don't want to have to go to the stealership to have them reset it. No telling what they'll try to charge me!

Your brake pad sensor is probably worn or unplugged. You have to replace this first and then reset it. You're doing the right reset. part is like $15.

I just reset it twice, the first one went to 15k, the second time went to 30k

Make sure the sensor is plugged in all the way and the tip of the sensor hasn't touched the rotor. Then reset it again. If it shows -15k again do it one more time and that should resolve the issue.

Same thing happened to me when trying to reset the brake replacement warning via the odometer button. Went from being 400 miles overdue to 9000 miles overdue. Just had a brake inspection done today, and they showed me how the sensor on the driver's front pad is now grounding out on the rotor and activating the sensor. Need new pads. I'm on the forum searching for a Do-It-Yourself guide, and recommended aftermarket rotors and pads for a 2004 530i. Any suggestions? I'm used to doing my own brakes on my Camry for $60 including having the rotors turned...can't swallow letting someone else do my BMW's brakes for $1200! Thanks in advance!

You replaced the sensors and still getting the error? Are you sure you replaced the sensors? reset it twice and let it sit overnight. I had that problem but i didnt replace sensor and that was my fault. I replaced and it was fine.
