have you had a software update?

mine was fine, and would come up with the screen very shortly after i put the key in, but now, since V13.3 - i will generally have backed out of the spot, and driven about 20 car lenths until the accept button will work. and even then seatbelt chime is still active as it is SLOW about realizing that my seatbelt it buckled.

? ?? But on most cars, the warning (nag) screen dismisses automatically after a few seconds.? BMW could have at least done that.? Taking my hands off the wheel (every single time I drive away) to hit the iDrive seems like a safety issue in itself.

Oh please, come on. You telling us you have some way of putting the car into gear before you drive away.... why not press the button on your way to the gear stick?

I have one hand on the wheel, one on the shifter, both doing the work of driving the car. Perhaps if I had a 3rd hand... Sure, its a trivial thing, but why can't they just make it auto dismiss like everyone else?

Also, its amazingly annoying to smack the iDrive to dismiss the nag screen only to have the PDC screen quickly pop up and then go away... returning me to the nag screen. (And no, I've been waiting for a software update that'd cause fewer troubles than my 11.x)

Same here, I have never updated the software because it generally works pretty well and I am afraid to screw it up. The warning screen comes on 19 times out of 20 right away but I back the car into the garage so PDC interference is never really a problem. I have developed a habit of turning the key and then pressing the i-drive right away so now I don't even think about it anymore.

The BMW i-drive controls more features than those in other brands (otherwise what are all the button/knob affectionados & anti-i-drive crusaders complaining about) so BMW needs to protect their butts in the US from lawsuits arising out of driver inattention.

On my car, 2007 530i, I don't have to accept the NAV Warning screen. After a few seconds after starting the car, that screen automatically goes away. I thought all cars did this. I sat in another 530 today and noticed it stayed on that screen until you press the idrive.

I don't think I'll complain about this to the dealer.

Same here ... even before any system software updates were performed.

I am very sure the warning would disappear automatically in a few seconds on my 2005 530i. Would have to check my new ride though.

My car was updated a while back, and the warning screen automatically disappers. Before the update, it didn't.

It's settled then. It goes away with the newer software. Mine did, after a reprogram.
