Hey,

I recently drove by a construction site and got spots of hardened concrete on several spots on my car. I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove them without scratching the paint. The spots are about 2" diameter circles and a few milimeters thick. I can scratch the edges off, but I'm afraid I'll take the paint off with it. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Hey, welcome Donkey81. Sorry, I personally don't know, but if it were me, I would consult with a reputable paint/body shop and ask them what they suggest. Concrete has acid in it...and I'm afraid if it's wet, there may be some damage...just like bird doo! Good luck!

 

I'm sorry but most likely You have damaged paint work already. I would try to knock concrere to brake it of. Other trick is to put wet paper or clothe over that and it will come off, BUT depending of type of concrete it can cause futher damage for the paint.

You need to do something quickly, as you don't want it to get through the clearcoat.

I would take it to a bodyshop, detail shop ASAP. They might claybar the areas to get the actual concrete out and then it will most likely need to be polished afterwards.

Probably wet sanding/polishing will be needed.

thanks for the help! i'll probably try and bring it by a paint/body shop within the next few days. i found somewhere on the net that muractic acid should get the concrete off (anyone have any experience with this?), but i dont know if im willing to try that. ill see what the paint/body shop suggests. luckily it's only on one door panel.

no muriatic acid. It's difficult to control and will take everything off. It will also take everything off of your good paint too.

Unless you have experience with it, I wouldn't recommend it.

That being said, maybe some diluted muratic acid will work if the area around the problem is taped and protected properly. Get a couple of opinions from detail/body shops.
