I've read somewhere -- maybe in this forum -- that if you hold the remote to your head as you press unlock or whatever, it will increase the range. Seems like it works sometimes.
This does indeed work and I have used it many times on many different remotes (I used it on my Audi A4 too). Apparently, your skull effectively magnifies the signal thus increasing its effective range. Works best when held against your temple.

Place the remote key under your chin, and point finger to your car. It increase the range for more than twice of normal distance.

Works all the time, I been doing it for over 15 years.

I also have used the remote to the chin to get increased distance in locking and unlocking and it does work well. However, does anyone know if there are any health issues with doing this? I am sure it may affect your brains somehow by transmitting RF through your body especially your head lol.

Regarding the remote, I read that the remote does not charge when inserted in the ignition slot, can anyone confirm that it does charge the key fob?

For the new keys like the E90. Slot inserted... they do not charge anymore. they have a battery. If you have the older regular BMW key from like 2000-1 on they charge.
