My Ride: 2006 530i Sport Pkg, Premium Pkg

I have a 2008 535i, built 2007/3,I need extra remote with comfort access ebay has a remote, my question is can the remote be re-progam? Service advisor said no? Its all software? Need advice any experts on this issue.

I think comfort remote is different- it has a battery inside whereas standard recharges from ignition when inserted. As comfort is not placed into ig on a regular basis and recharged this battery is required. I dont know if you could use std fob inserted if progammed for car- would be intreasting to know, hope this helps.

AFAIK these remotes use RFID technology and can not be reprammed. You have to order a replacement key from the dealer, who will require the VIN and proof of ownership before submitting the order. Most dealerships can not make keys locally, so it will take a few days for the replacement key to arrive.

Pukka- AFAIK youre correct about not being able to reprogram remote, but I think you can register it on car as another unit.

This is 100% correct. Also, expect to pay at least a couple hundred Dollars for the privilege.
