Stop and Start System, basically, when you stop for a traffic light your engine shuts down and when you press on the gas pedal starts again to let you move.

The way I read this, it dosen't seem to work like a hybrid. It seems that this system just tries to generate most of the power for the car's electrical system needs when there isn't a great demand on the engine, not actually recapturing the energy from braking.
There is a new technology (glass mat) battery. This battery is charged by energy transfer from braking. For most of the time, charging of the battery is decoupled from the engine, thereby improving fuel efficiency.

So how does the energy get from the braking to the battery? Is there some kind of generator built into the wheel? Or is it just that the charging occurs from the altinator when there is no demand on the engine? ( In other words not regen braking)
