Reflections of 6 years of ownership
In a country with 180% taxes on cars, our 530dA price tag with all the extras we had was: $225.000
The cars here follow the same depreciation curve, as a car in the US, meaning that the Danes typically keep their expensive cars for a long time.
Leasing to private consumers are also entering the Danish market, but this product is more feasible for "standard cars", than fully loaded BMW's.
JeffK:
BMW Denmark charges $200 + VAT / hour for repairs.

Not really... Denmark, Norway and Finland have a very high tax on new cars. Sweden being the odd country out here due to "good" lobbying from domestic car industry. But the Nordics are not Europe... far from it!
Living in Sweden and working in Denmark means I can buy a BMW to a "reasonable" price. There are some looks in Copenhagen when I drive by, as this car in Danish money would normally mean you need to be a millionaire (and I'm not - far from it!).

+1 ! No car companies in Denmark, Norway or Finland have led to massive taxes. A 180% tax on cars in Sweden would have killed Volvo in no time.
Fail! Much of europe isn't similar at all.
Addicted to Fox News Much? Obama's coming to get you, watch out
Mine celebrates it's 6th birthday next month and just passed the 40k miles point. I prefer driving my car to my wife's 1 year old Golf 6, and a couple of new Audi's I've tried in 2008.
Living on the edge here with no warranty

Definitely - it only gets washed when it goes for a service . Probably the highest mileage car with not a single swirlmark
To celebrate its 200,000 mile anniversary, I'm currently trying to book it into the ZF autobox service centre in Dortmund for a holiday

Juliann,
Glad to hear your 'Beast' is still going strong
Mine is a late 2004 with 92k miles (half yours...)and never fails to bring a smile to my face when I 'boot it'.
Your Suffolk/Cornwall location explains the mileage, give us a shout when you get to 200k miles.
