![Question](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a 2007 BMW 550i and I need to replace the power steering pump. A mechanic told me I had to have my car reflashed after I did this. I never heard of this. IS it true and how is it done ? Also has anyone ever changed one of these pumps. I have active steering and dynamic drive. Thanks guys

Flashing means reprogramming or updating an ECU. If you are just changing a pump you should not need any flashing just bleeding the system then initiate the active steering by turning the steering wheel all the way left then all the way right. You need to find procedures to bleed the system after you replace the pump.
