Thumbs down

I got a recall from my dealer yesterday for my 523iA LCI 7/07 "It has been found that pressure peaks during start up and on acceleration may damage parts of the high pressure pump which eventually leads to total failure. ....We ask you to bring your car in for a software update..."

Hi, is it a software update for the engine or something? I got an update for my iDrive 3 weeks ago (because it froze at the accept screen); wonder if they updated that as well. My car has been a bit rough during idle lately. I believe smooth BMW I6s' should (not sure this is my first bmw 6 cylinder) be smooth. Should I take my 523i to the dealer?
Thanks for the notice I haven't received a letter yet here in Australia.

...too late.
My high pressure injection pump has been already changed due to a brake down a couple of weeks ago.

Believe this recall is only for cars equipped with the N53B engine. For Australia and most parts of East Asia, the in-line sixes is the improved N52B engine with double vanos and valvetronic.

My dealer told me that my LCI 530i will be recalled soon for this software update. It has already had the pressure pump chnaged twice.

Mine is now getting the FORTH pump in eight weeks. I am driving a lot. It is in the factory in Munich for repair and they told me the last one is already damaged again by the soft so they are going to change it together with a bundle of other parts. I hope that this will end the probs and I can use my wonderful comfy silent gasoline sedan again soon and get rid of the 530d touring with M package that is ruining by spine and ears.

Hi,

I visited my dealership today, because of picking up new winter tyres. I also asked if there were any service actions waiting for my car. And yes, there were two of them, first new set of injectors must be installed and secondly they will update the software to protect the high pressure pump.

It was not possible to have termin before the 19th of November, because they do not get as many injectors as they need. My car is still running ok - I really hope it will last until service

Best regards from Finland
