All owners should request a copy of the Measures Plan and / or Final Report mentioned in note 2 in the SIB. This is a good method to track your PROGMAN (CIP) level. They will use Target data Status and that can be converted to PROGMAN/CIP (Target data Status E060-06-03-515 = CIP 21.01.00 for example).

Chassis number is the last 7 digits of your VIN. If you do not know your VIN, in teh US the VIN is seen from the looking thru the lower windshield area on drivers side. Not sure in ROW.
thanks cobradav. looks like my chassis number falls within those that were affected.

If you do not get letter, then they simply check when u come in for any other reason. It's not a drivability issue.

I got my 2006 530xit (with auto transmission) back from the dealership (in CA) after they applied the service bulletin for the recall.
It seems that it has affected the performance in a negative way:

1.) It feels like I lost 25-35 HP.
2.) There is now virtually no difference between normal drive and sports mode.
3.) When doing a kick-down the car doeas not "pull" anymore like it did before.

Is it just me or did anyone else's performance suffer after the recall for 06E-A01?

Just got my car back from recall service and it's fine--peppy as ever. Only problem is that all the individualized settings are set back to default--triple turn signal (which I don't like), pathway lighting (default is too short), speed signal (I like to be reminded when I'm going over 80), radio presets lost, Bluetooth lost, etc. Half an hour tomorrow and I should be able to fix them. Just minor annoyances. Worth it for a car like this.

I don't have an exact answer for you but in case you missed it, I posted a reply to your question here:
