In another thread I posted the instruction on how to recalibrate the electronic throttle.

I thought a seperate thread would give it some more attention.

I can tell you it actually worked with my old 330Cic. I'm gonna try it tomorrow with my E60 530i.

Here are the instructions:
According to BMW's documentation, to reset the throttle adaptation you do the following:

With the car off, turn the ignition to the on position for 10 seconds(do not start) then turn the ignition off for 10 seconds. Then start the car. You should notice slightly improved performance if you normally drive miss daisy.

I have also been told that disconnecting the battery ground for 20 seconds will reset the short term ECU memory but I can't validate that with BMW doco. These steps are necessary if testing or installing new modifications to be able to determine true performance

Good luck trying and post your opinions/experience here!!!!!

A software update resets the learning tranny and it has to start all over again.

I'm not talking about the automatic transmission I am talking about the way the gaspedal reacts to pushing it.

I'll try it today and get back on this..

It's a little difficult to not take it a little easy if your advised for the first 1200 miles to:

1. For auto don't use kick-down

2. Don't go above 3500 revs (diesel, Red line 5000)

3 Do not exceed 90 odd miles an hour

Only 800 miles to go
