Weight your motives when purchasing a 5 Series from LEAST to GREATEST:

1. Styling
2. Price/Value
3. Utility
4. Brand
5. Performance

You can respond with a cut and paste or just list the numbers. And no, I don't work for BMW marketing.

Styiling
Brand
performance
price/value
utility

From least to greatest:

Price/Value (It ain't cheap)
Brand (Who cares?)
Utility (It's far more useful than my 3er)
Styling (It looks great)
Performance (Mmmm. V8)
I won't buy it if it's a Hyundai. No matter how good the performance is.
Just an example, but I don't see Hyundai brand will be attractive to me in the next 5 year.

Great Responses so far. Come'on everyone, take your vote. I'll tally it and post the result as soon as I get enough responses. And here's mine:

1. Price/Value
2. Brand
3. Performance
4. Utility
5. Styling

It is interesting to look back at my decision process. At the time I never prioritzed between these choices.

1. Performance
2. Brand
a little further back....
3. Styling
a lot further back....
4. Utility
way, way, back
5. Price/Value

I am surprised at how many people put Price/Value high on the list. In Canada, if that was a priority at all you would not be in an E60.

OP,

Apart from brand, I could get all those from 75% of all other manufacturers.

How about quality? You missed that.... The clincher for me!

Some posters have gone BEST to LAST; whereas the OP called for LAST to BEST - so some of the lists of preferences are reversed.

LEAST
2. Price/Value (could buy 3 Chevy Malibu's for this price!)
1. Styling
4. Brand
5. Performance (535xi, sure wish it would get delivered already!)
3. Utility (At six-foot-six, you'd be surprised how few cars I can fit into)
MOST
