i have a red dome and auto dim mirrors (but they are not blue in colour) butthey dim - however i thought the red dome was just the alarm

Mine is also auto dim (available only with premium package?) but it looks more of a green to me rather than blue.. I don't have to tilt the mirror down as it automatically dims

I don't believe the nose turns on autodimming mirrors I have autodimming on my e60 and it doesn't turn. In my old e46 the nose turned similar to the lever/toggle that is on most other cars so that you can dip your mirror down if say a truck is driving behind you at night.

i gotta check my car then. they gave me a base e60. well, better than a base 3 series. auto dimming doesnt work when eugene has his lights on behind you

I was sitting in my e60 loaner and got bored so I decided to turn the red dome under the mirror. If u turn in, the mirror dips down. Turn it back, its back to normal. Useless but cool feature.
