Rear Folding Seat Option - Retrofit?
Hi
Has anyone had the rear folding seat option fitted after purchase? Can it be done? and I guess it will cost an arm and a leg. I've got an E60 and I stupidly didn't spec this, and as the wife wants me to do all the tip runs - I could do with more space at the back. Secretly hoping the answer is no so i can use her Passat for what its good at.
Cheers

It's always worth checking with a dealer in such situations.

I have no direct experience - but reading threads over here and on www.bmwland.co.uk it's basically impossible to do for sensible money. You need to cut sheet metal. You'd be significantly better off by selling and buying another car.

In most cars I think that is the case, including the E39. But I remember hearing how the E60 chassis was built so that no additional support was needed between the folding seat version vs. the non-folding seat version. They did this as a cost cutting measure that may aid in the retrofit after delivery. But the cost alone of the rear seat back isn't going to be cheap either.
