Default Rear Camber

I recently had my car aligned and new tires put on, and I asked my mechanic to dial back the rear camber as much as possible given that the previous rear tires (295 width) had a lot of wear on the inside. He told me he made it as neutral as possible, but they still look like they did before. How can I verify that the camber is all the way it can go? Thanks in advance!

It should be documented in the paper work. Look at it,, it should be negative 0.8 or 0.9 . the computer wont allow any less camber, So it still will have some but not as radical. what I do is once the rears almost get to the wear bars on the inside half of the tire. Break the rears off the wheels and switch the tires side to side. both insides will now be the outsides. It will double your tire life. I have ventus v12 evo.s with a 280 tread wear , and managed to get 27,400 miles on them. Which is not bad for a soft summer tire. Just make sure that your tires can be rotated side to side. Because some tires are one sided only ( due to different tire pattern on each half ) on top of being one directional..

Think the camber is adjusted with push rod number 7. Also on the next post the toe in and out is adjusted with the essentric bolts 11 and 15

Doing off-rim rotation on the rears was my plan also for BFG G-Force KDWs (about 300 wear rating) that were on the car when I bought it. Unfortunately I pushed them a little too far, and when I went to get them rotated at 19K miles the cords were already showing. I have changed the rear to Conti DWS because they are quiet and have a better wear durometer (540).

The Contis are not directional, but asymmetrical so that complicates matters when it comes to rotation. Discount Tire who installed them here in Scottsdale does a lot of exotic cars with staggered tire set ups and the salesman said at least for the primarily dry road driving in the desert that running the asymmetrical tires "inside-out" doesn't affect handling much or hurt the tire. I tried to find info on the web or on tire manufacturer's websites but didn't have any luck. When the time comes to rotate I will give running them inside-out a try and see.

These tires are not meant to be stretched multiple times, but I have heard of people doing just that to avoid the innenr wear. I think I am at -.8 on both rears, but I am confused by "the computer won't allow" for more. Can I have the mechanic override what the computer is telling him? It sure looks like I have clearance for neutral (fenders are rolled), but, admittedly, I don't have a clue what I am talking about. With 295s on the rears, the camber is noticable from behind the car. I can't be eating through $500 worth of tires every 9-12 months. Would a camber kit solve this? I have stock sport suspension. Thanks!

In my opinion, if the camber looks radical the vehicle may have excessive camber. excessive is 2 dg plus. The vehicle can be adjusted to about 1.5 dg and maintain the handling performance that BMW intended.

The information should have been on the adjustment printout sheet. The most sophisticated alignment system I know of is at the certified BMW dealer. Cost, barring replacement parts should be about $250.00
