Rear bumper hole, plz see pics-1027081100.jpgMy car was towed and the towing guy had to remove the plastic cover on rear bumper to latch and pull my car on to the flatbed.

After I got my car back I found out the plastic piece was very loose like my ex girlfriend. In the morning today, I found my plastic cover missing. It probably fell off while I was driving on freeway last night.

It is kinda embarrassing driving with my hole revealed.
Please provide me with the part number for this plastic cover so I can order from a local BMW dealer.

lol. Your hole is exposed.

P.S. - Why was your car towed in the first place?

Should be an easy replacement at the dealer. Unless of course the tow truck guy damaged the bumper somehow so that the plug won't seat properly. Doesn't appear to be visible damage in you picture however...

Oh, and what is your ex-girlfriend's phone number...

Dear soliterry,

The towing company should buy you a new one!

If the car is towed and some parts are missing,
the tow company pays!

This should be close enough.

I agree, the towing company should be liable for the missing piece, as THEY were the one's who removed it in the first place! Good Luck and give 'em hell!

+1.
A few years ago my g/f had her Jetta towed (not in a flat bed) and somehow they cracked the oil pan. the car was towed for other reason. Long stroy short, we contacted the towing company through AAA and they reimbursed us the for oil pan.

The piece wasn't missing. The OP noticed it was loose "after he got his car back". I assume that means when he picked up his car from the dealer. Either the tow guy damage it upon removal and should be responsible, or the dealership didn't properly re-insert after the repair was completed. Could easily be the dealer's fault as well. But as a lesson to all of us, the poster, upon noticing the plug was loose, should have spoken to his service adviser before driving off, because once you are off the lot, good luck getting the dealer to take responsibility for the lost plug...

You did retrieve the towing coupler from the tow driver right? This the metal item that screws into the hole for the tow drive to connect his/her wench. I've had an experience (or two) that they forgot to give it back and had to remind them to give it up!

Try this site and see if you can find the Part # : http://www.realoem.com/bmw/

Rear bumper hole, plz see pics-0224091345.jpgJust purchased the plastic cover from STEALERSHIP...$27.37 for a plastic piece.
Now I have to find a place to paint this. I hope it doesn't cost a lot. I wonder if the paint shop where they painted my front bumper couple month ago will do it for free.
