So these days its like 20 to 30 degrees F in NYC. I have the climate control set to Auto at 72 degrees, and there's hot air coming out the front. However, the cubby hole in my armrest and the rear vents might still be blasting cold air. This is even with the rear dial turned to 'red'.

Now if I set the CC to manual mode and start blasting hot air out the front, only then will the rear start heating up. The cubby hole is still lukewarm, at best.

So what's the deal with managing the temps of the rear vents and cubby hole? They don't heat up unless CC is in manual mode? Don't cooperate with Auto mode?

Easy, and you don't even need iDrive: There are wheels that control the rear vent temperature, located right under the vents; they go from red to blue. I'll bet yours are on blue, which basically emits outside air. Roll the wheel toward upward toward red and voila!

This is the way the front units used to be before iDrive, dammit.

Cheers,

Yeah I don't normally either, but I noticed it when my passengers complained.

What about the cubby hole? I leave quarters for parking meters and other stuff in there and they're cold as fock when I get them sometimes.
