Hello members,

I have a little problem with my e60. when I drive very slow and push the break, I hear a clicking noise comes from the front breaks or maybe the suspension.
when I replaced the battery I let the mechanic check that noise, he used to work at BMW dealership, he said that my rotors, brake pads, and calipers need to be opened and cleaned very well. it sounds not right to me.
I dont wanna waste time and money to do this thing then I find out thats not the cause. have anyone had this problem too??
I have OEM rotors and pads all the way from the dealer btw. thanks for reading.

If its just dirty assuming you don't have any other issues, what I do is spray caliper cleaner and stump on breaks really hard a couple of times doing 25mph or so. Seems to get it resolved!

Haha thats a hell of alot easier than taking things apart and cleaning them every few thousand miles. I'll have to try that!! Thanks buddy!

The mechanic seems right. If you only get the clicking when you press the brakes then it is the brake system. Clean the brakes and you will be fine. If that doesnt work then you will need to have them reset. I have had this issue before on one of my vehicles. I learned how to change brakes and rotors myself because it can get real expensive having shops do your brake work for you. Have you had any brake service done recently?

Make sure brakes are clean but are you sure everything in your suspension is tightened down and that your ball joints and thrust arm bushings are ok? I am saying this because as the car moves forward a bit it's carrying the weight and when you brake all the weight is shifting forward putting a lot of stress on suspension components. I had one of my thrust arm sleeves slide out of the arm a little and this caused vibration at 70MPH, bad breaking, and clicking.
