Ok guys, I tried searching a lot, did not find this info.

Is the offset of our BMW wheels on the actual rim surface? I did not find anything, looking in the back of course.
Found the Manufacturer and a lot of other numbers, so I suppose the offset is encoded somehow?

For original BMW wheels, enter the part number http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do here. It should report the part style, dimensions, and offset like this:

Light alloy rim 9JX18 ET:55

In this case the wheel is an 18" with offset = 55

ET = Offset. It comes from the German "Einpresstiefe."

That is really cool guys. Thanks.
So that would be basically a really good way to find out.

I gather from this that the ET(offset) is not actually on the rim itself?? I tried to find it, couldn't.

Kind of odd really for a company known for details

Thanks!!

That's odd. Most wheels I've seen have an ET and sizing designations stamped on the back of one or more spokes. Please post the other numbers and the manufacturer, perhaps we can ask around?
