for lci's you put the key in, push the start button without pushing the brakes. When all the lights turn on without starting the car, hold down the gas pedal for 30 seconds. then start the car normally and your trans will be reset

I remember reading about this a long time ago and completely forgot about it. My 550 has been shifting a little abruptly lately so after seeing this thread I decided to give it a try this morning.
I don't know if this is psychological, but the car shifts waaaayy smoother now! I went through the procedure and right away all the jerking or minor slamming issues I had seem gone.
Strange...but it seems to work...I think?
