My Ride: 2008 E90 335i Titanium Silver
GONE - 2005 530i Titanium Grey
I've noticed over the last month or so that I'm getting a slight rattle from the rear passenger side of the car. I think it's the loose piece of plastic that covers the rail which the front passenger seat sits and slides back and forth on, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, my baby has told me that I need to book her in for a oil change and so I thought I'd get the service guys to take a look for me while they were doing the service for me. So, I rang my BMW service centre and booked her in but when I told the service guy about the rattle and my hypothesis about the loose piece of plastic, he told me that BMW warranty only covers rattles for the first year after PRODUCTION, not from when I purchased the vehicle. While they're happy to look at it, they've warned that there may be a charge incurred!
Because I'm in Australia, and 5ers don't exactly sell like Toyota's, obviously there's a substantial lead time from when the car rolls off the production line in Germany and when it actually lands in my hands. For me, my car was built August 2004 and I purchased the car in July 2005... so according to the above rule, I'm only covered for rattles for 1 month? Tad unfair methinks...
Anyway, is this everyone else's understanding of BMW's policy of rattles & warranty? Or am I being led up the garden path?
