Going over bumps on the road causes a rattle near the rear glass behind the rear seats. I have sunshades so when the sunshades are down, the rattle occurs but when it is up, it seems to be gone. Anyone have a similar issue? Or is it something else that is rattling?

Mine has developed a rattle from the back somewhere. I don't have sunshades. I've tried wiggling everything, removing the headrests, buckling the seatbelts, lowering the centre arm rest, all to no avail. I need to get somebody to sit in the back whilst I drive to try and pinpoint it for me...

sometimes the leather is rubbing against the center back/arm rest, try opening it as an arm rest, i find that all the rattles go away if someone is sitting in the back, perhaps just the weight, or maybe the upholstery moves away from the part that is rubbing (which may sound like rattle)

Rattle from the rear seat could be the seat and armrest latches needing lubrication and another fault causing a rattle is the rear suspension arm(s) bushes worn.

I had a constant creak and rattle that was eventually solved by the dealr pulling out the back seats, laying down foam padding and then putting the seats back on. Killed the rattle dead 4 months ago, but it came back a couple of weeks ago (after hauling 3 guys in the back seat for extended drives over a week). Check this:

Russ, I had this and it was the parcel shelf - made a sort of clicking sound rather than a rattle.

Regards,
Yep that's it ... I sat in the back and pushed and pulled and realised that the noise is coming from the parcel shelf against the back of the seats! As a test, I pushed some cardboard between the shelf and seats (ugly but temporary), drove the car, and it was silent. Seems to me this is _poor_ quality and design. It's really not worth going to the dealer for, I will just fit a piece of black material covered plastic or something in there, it can push down far enough not to be visible anyway but I'd still want it black _ just _ in case !!
