BMW North America, BMW AG and BMW M GmbH seem to have different views on the future of BMW? in the end, money talks....

I went for 5 series, X6 (no need for this!) and exterior styling. Given the current line up of engines for BMW, hard to argue more power. And certainly fuel efficiency is a wonderful goal, but most of us did not buy a BMW because it was the most fuel efficient option!

EDIT: dammit! Saw the 6 series and just saw this new X6! Sorry, 6 series fine by me so cancel my 6 series vote!! Sorry folks...

While this is a very interesting question, it's the type of poll that needs to allow for ranking (i.e. first, second, third) and then assess the overall results, not just one top vote per person. Unfortunately, the polling software here (or on other forums) doesn't allow for this type of granularity and weighting.

I agree with JS , I've had the opportunity to drive almost every BMW model and must say I that prior to driving some of them I was not a fan conceptually , after driving them though , I must admit I loved all except, 2 . ..... the X3 seemed awkward and clumbsy somewhat underpowered and cheap (although the LCI versions seems to have solved several of my issues with the car and I rather like it now ). The other was the Z4.......... noisey , loose , claustrophobic etc. End to end I really think BMW has a good thing going . I read a few negs about the X5 above , but having owned one for the last 4 years I honestly believe it bestows all the BMW virtues and is a blast to drive ONLY if it's a Sport model and has the V8 !
The perfect "concept" BMW is one I've never driven , but excites me the most .....the 135 !!
I love the 550M Sport and I've grown to love the 650 Cab ( reluctantly ) but in fairness driving them all is is pure pleasure, hell I like getting service just for the loaners !!

God Bless BMW ........... er sorry for that

It's all good, Westcoast, a little irrational exuberance is good for the soul........

I suspect you are very right tho, the X5 w V8 and Sport is probably a decent machine but I'd still rather drive a car (said by a guy who has a Highlander as a second vehicle in the family.... ).

And it is hard to pick in this kind of a poll, a preferential ranking would be far better.

#1 objective in producing future models: Lighter curb weights, no question, this use to be their philosophy.

Where is the 135i to choose, its the closet thing to their old philosophy, even though it could be lighter. Jeremy Clarkson said in a recent article "The fact of the matter is this. The 135 coup? is the best car BMW makes."

I can't believe that making more fuel efficiency/alternative fuels engines question garnered more votes than building more powerful engines. It must be a mistake, or Al Gore voted 300 times. Really, have you EVER heard anyone complain about having to much power? Sheesh....

Are people voting for the E70 X5? or E53?

I'm surprised the 7 series got one vote at all on the first question. Its my pick for the second question...

Isn't it odd that so many people want better handling from the Ultimate Driving Machine? I think this generation's models have started to become the ultimate please everyone to boost sales machines.

Hmmm.....
