Hello - My first post, excited to be here. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. Own 05 545i with about 43K miles on it. Running fine, no issues to report or flag warnings on the display.

I know noticed the last couple of times I drove it 3 sudden beeps sound randomly over i guess the speaker system that you can hear even over the radio. They happen at random intervals and do not repeat or show up in any noticeable time patterns. It happens maybe once during a 30 minute drive with 3 sudden beeps or not at all. I am not doing anything out of the norm when they happen. Has anyone experienced this? No warning messages come up in the dash or near speedometer when these beeps occur. I usually have blue tooth phone connected when i drive it so maybe that is the issue causing some electronic interference but have no problems using the phone or any of menu voice commands. I have also checked the car data sections such as speed limit alert setting and it was not on or set at any speed. Or other trip function settings such as arrival trip time, distance, etc. and none are set or checked.

If anyone has any input on this issue, let me know.

 

Its your clock setting, it will beep 3 times just b4 the hour Dont worry i didnt know to start with either. options are on idrive to turn it off

Its in Information, clock, then clock momo I think

 

Lol thats funny, shows how paranoid people can be when driving a car with such complicated electronics and mechanics. But I dont blame you Id probably have been on here like a shot aswell if it happened to me!

Welcome to the forum btw, im just new aswell but I havent even got an E60..... yet (fingers crossed!)

 

Are you sure it?s random and not, for example, at the top of the hour?

 

Haha!!! The same thing happened to me the day after I got my E60. I was literally freaking out because I did not see any lights come on the dash or any indication that something had gone wrong. I thought to myself, this is just great, my one day old "new" car is already having problems! I couldn't figure out what the 3 beeps meant until I noticed that they went off 3 seconds before every hour. Now everytime I hear this beep, I laugh because of how paranoid I was, when it turned out to be just the clock!!!

 

Thanks for all your input. Yes it was not random as it was the hour memo as stated above. I did not know it had this feature. I guess someone tripped it while going thru idrive menus. I did not know it even had a feature like this but glad to know about this feature. Find something new out each day i guess.

I appreciate all the help with this minor issue and taking the time to comment on it. Its lame i could not figure this out on my own. Thanks again!

I first discovered this hourly chime feature with my 1989 E34 BMW 535i. I wonder if any other Manufacturers have it.
