Default Installed new fuel filter pumps sending unit now gauge reads wrong

Hi I just installed a new gas filter pump sending unit on my 2004 545i and now the gas gauge reads incorrectly. Car ran out if gas while the gauge read 50 some odd miles? Went to the gas station and pumped 70 dollars worth from past experience this should be near full tank.gauge reads 3/4 roughly.

I tried to do the instrument cluster check or reset but no luck. Any help would be very appreciated thanks

You might have something binding up the float when you reinstated it all. Happened on wife's X5 when they changed the fuel pump -- they installed it with something binding up the float and the fuel level read incorrectly until they fixed it.

Ok cool thanks I'll take a look at it again and see what I come up with I also disconnected the battery and unplugged the pump fuse it went from 280ish miles to 300

Thanks a lot man never would have came to mind to just reinstall the part and that's simply what i did just took it out and re installed ddnt disconnect a thing and it worked. For anyone doing this make sure you don't have much gas in your tank or it WILL SPILL ALOT.
