Heading to BMW tomorrow to see if I can get a new MPM. Will plug that in, and see if I can get my radio working again. Just to be on the safe side, I'm going to pull out the unit and make sure everything is plugged in properly. If it still doesn't work, guess I gotta drive the 2 and a half hours to the other dealer I got the CCC unit from.

Fingers crossed! Thanks for your help!

Okay so update: cleaned spare tire well and MPM connector and relocated to driver side well behind panel. Changed out my MPM with a new one, radio still nonoperational, and now it won't even turn on at all, no tones or anything either, and I'm still getting the icon of the car on a lift on my cluster when I start my car, however since my iDrive won't work I can't check to see what that message is, could potentially still be the high battery drain one.

Checked fuses and all looked good. Did not get to check fuse behind CCC unit as it got too dark before I could take apart my dash. What are the chances of that fuse going out? Will check tomorrow. If that fuse is good then I guess I gotta go back to the dealership and get another replacement.

But am I missing something? Could I have overlooked something else that could have caused my radio to go out? I hate going to the stealership for anything and want to troubleshoot as much of it as I can before going there so that I can just throw it all in their faces and make them change it. Anything else I could look at?

Ok, With the replacement of the MPM, try resetting all modules in the car by disconnecting the ground cable from the battery. Leave it disconnected for 20-30 minutes, then reconnect. That should reset all modules in the car, like rebooting your PC.

Did that, I actually completely removed the battery and had it charged and tested. While I was waiting for that, I cleaned my trunk and relocated the MPM before installing the new one. After about 4 hours I put the battery back in, but still nothing. 1 day later and still nothing.

You need to pull the BMW specific OBD error codes. Use a code reader that will pull BMW proprietary error codes. A generic code reader, like what AutoZone or AdvancedAuto uses won't help you...

Okay so I figured out what was wrong. My MPM wasn't the real cause. I did replace it as it was bad, but when I removed the radio, it suddenly worked. So something is getting lose causing the unit to die. Not sure if it's power or ground, but something keeps making the unit either restart or just die. Noticed that last night while driving, unit would work then restart a couple of times, then just shut off. Time to go hunting for the culprit. Any ideas though of where to start?

Only thing that comes to mind would be checking all connector pins to ensure they are straight. On the female connector, that all connectors are lodged properly within the connector and haven't been pushed back. This might explain the intermittent electrical connection you are experiencing with the CCC unit.

You purchased the CCC as a reconditioned unit from a BMW dealer, did they do the installation? Reason I ask is, if you have no other error codes popping up in the car, and they installed the reconditioned unit, take it to them and let them figure it out under the dealers warrenty to you.

Is the error icon still appearing in the instrument cluster?

I purchased it from a dealer, however I did the install myself and had a friend code it to my car (stealership wanted another $425 to do that). I called them and they said they could look at it but they'll charge me $300 for diagnostics. I'll pull the unit out again this weekend and check connectors and hope it's just a lose wire. I still get icon on my cluster after starting it up after a couple of hours. When the iDrive does work when that happens, the control message is still the high battery drain.

On the battery drain, you need to have the codes pulled with a BMW specific code reader or laptop software setup.

Is your car going to sleep within 60 minutes of you closing it up?

Here is a document on Energy Management. Read through it, in particular on the IBS, starts about page 22.
