My Ride: 2004 545i, 6-speed Manual, Silver Grey Metallic, Grey Dakota Leather, Cold Weather Pkg, Premium Sound Pkg, Sport Pkg, Lumbar Support
On mine, I pull the iDrive down to Entertainment, select FM, select Autostore, select Set, select Autostore (this reprograms the stations to the nearest 16 it finds). Then select Set again and select RDS.
This requires a lot of iDrive attention, so don't do it while driving...

I just had to figure out the same thing on my new car as well. If you dont want to autostore, but rather pick your own presets manually, simply use the manual tune feature with i drive and find the first station you like. Once tuned to that station you would like to store, push down on i drive again as the "set" button should he highlighted, that will open up a box to hit both store and the rds feature. Once you hit store, it will ask you which current preset you would like to override with this new preset.
