I'm about to put Rainbow speakers in the door panels and the back dash, add a center channel speaker in the front dash & add an amp over the next week or two. I have already done the sub replacement and added an amp to the truck to push them. What is your question concerning the amp install for the mids/highs?

It must be your first BMW and/or you must be Gen X person or younger?

Nice, I have been searching for Rainbows on the forums, but nobody is responding. Which Rainbows are you doing a group buy for...the SLX deluxe set or the SLC's? Also, what is the price? Thanks.

It depends on which factory setup you have. If you do not have Logic 7 the speakers in the door panels are only getting power from the HU. I believe if you have the premium sound system (L7) you do have an amp pushing the speakers in the door panels. But I would have to agree with Nelson29...you will blow those things right off the door with an aftermarket amp! They are only being pushed maybe 25w at the most from the stock amp (no L7, door panel speakers might get 5w-10w from HU). I'm sure thats because they cant handle any more than that. Just a thought. I highly recommend replacing all of the stock speakers and then install your amp.

Hey nelson29, I was quoted $360 shipped on 2 sets (4 mids, 4 tweets, 4 Xovers) of SLX's by an online dealer, but they are not the deluxe with the upgraded crossover. Do the set of regular SLX's sound "that" much different than the deluxe SLX's or the SLC's? Can you do any better than that, or can you get the deluxe SLX's? If so, whats the price on the deluxe set? $250 a set for the SLC's is another $140, I have yet to get a straight answer out of anyone as to the difference between the SLX deluxe and the SLC's, the specs/wattages are just about the same...and the regular SLX's aren't too far off from those. I just havn't heard any of them, and cant find anyone who carries them locally, but based on recommendations from the forums, I'm sure they are a damn good component set.
