Bit of advice needed here. I've only got the basic radio setup in my e60, with 6.5" screen. Yet over the past few weeks, intermitently, the radio has been functioning fine, CDs playing etc, but no sound comes out at all.

Its happened a handful of times since approx mid march, but it really annoyed me the other day, as on a 2 hour journey home from Scarborough, it didn't work, then came on suddenly and scared the crap outta me after an hour of silence.

I originally thought it might have been the telemute lead for my handsfree kit, so took that out, and was still happening, so put it back in again. Its not got any amps, etc, so any clue what it could be?? I'm losing my mind here

Hmm......I don't know what it could be. You probably already tried this but I would "reset" the iDrive.......hold the CD eject button and push and hold the volume knob together for about 10 seconds. Mine did this twice and this fixed it. Also, when I had no sound the iDrive knob would just spin around if I moved it, it had no resistance.

As above. Try the reset...

Otherwise, if that doesn't work, turn mute off

robg502d,

Did you ever figure out what your issue with the radio was? I am having the same issues. Its stuck on mute and half way during my drive the radio comes on and scares the crap out of me. Tried the reset but dosnt seem do anything. Is I-drive going to shutdown and reboot with this reset?
