Here is a strange one, Since version 12 update when I shut the car off and then re-start it the radio comes on automatically even when I had shut it off before I shut the car off!
Anyone have this problem?
Thanks

The same thing happens to my 530. I have it in for service this week to address this and several other issues. I hope version 13 solves the problem.
Other issues that i have seen are:
-no split screen on Nav (see map, but no turn by turn directions)
-steering whell does not retract when exiting car
-BMW Assist does not work--car does not send data
-radio reception is horrible
So far that's all. I hope I don't regret buying this car. I suspect I will have to bring it in for programming updaes monthly. It would be great it you were able to perform the upgrades yourself
I will let you know how I make out.

JohnnyGadget: Most of your problems were solved by V12
Radio is known to be bad on all E60's. There is a booster on the 7 series i hope they can reslove this issue for us soon.
Steering wheel issue was resolved by update to 12 for me ( so go see them ) don't wait on it.
All the problems you have seem serious, don't just sit there and wait for V13.
As for you Tsandas I think you have TP activated
De-Activate that and see if the problem still occurs

Desert530: What do you mean "the radio is known to be bad on all E60s"??? There was a bulletin quoted here but that was only on cars without Nav, i.e. the MASK computer. I'm having no problems whatsoever with my radio so I wonder where you're getting that from. We need to be careful with blanket statements like that as many new owners are coming here for information and we have a responsibility to them. Thanks.

Sam (and other new E60 owners),
Poor AM reception seems to be common among E60s. The problem is not static -- it's more like a "crackle" as if the speaker is blown. It's been determined that this is an issue that should be fixable via software. (It can happen on the strongest of stations.)
I think many owners don't use the AM band so they don't really experience this problem.
Hope that helps clear things up a bit...

TP is a function on the radio. If activated, you can listen to CD's and when a traffic anouncement is made your CD pauses and you listen to the radio station until the anouncement is over, then you return to your CD.
It is to inform you about traffic jams, etc. even when not listening to the radio.
