A weird thing happened to me on yesterday and the day before.

A couple days ago, on my way to pick up my son from the daycare, I switched from Radio to CD. Everything was fine and I stopped and shut-off the car at the daycare. My usual process is to turn the volume down or mute before I shut off the car. In this case I muted.

I come back, start the car, and was surprised to find that the audio was unmuted, had switched from CD to Radio, all my presets were gone, and the RDS setting was reset.

On my way to work yesterday (the next day), I re-program all my preset radio stations, and continue to listen to the radio. Mute, shut the car, and off to work I go. After work (24 hours after the initial reset), I come back to find the car has switched to CD from radio. (I very rarely listen to the CD in the morning).

First time this is ever happening to me. Anybody else have similar experiences?? Look at my sig for Progman status.

No, never ... my idrive display went dark for a few minutes after a stop at the bank ... everything returned to normal after a short drive and restart. Yours sounds like a power failure or related gremlin ... Is your battery up to snuff?

I know I had a similar problem and it turned out to be due to the key I was using. The car stores settings according to the key you are using. If you set your presets using one key, and then the next time you drive it use the other key (and that key has no settings) .... well ... you get the idea. Not sure if that's the problem - but it got me once.

I wonder if the same thing can happen if the battery for a key gets drained or is no longer operable (won't take a charge)?????

i had an issue with the presets as well, but everything turned back to normal, i think this happened when i was forced to change the battery, so im wondering maybe its a symptom of a weak battery, maybe check that. good luk

Coincidence or what, Slowhand is correct. I came on here to post a question regarding the same issue on my 04 530d and after reading, I realised I was using my spare key after leaving my other set at work. All settings were different, and logic 7 was all not what I set!! Thought I had gremlins for a second.

Geese ... that makes sense! Guess there isn't a way to transfer all settings from Key A to Key B

Interesting that some have encountered the same issue (not people who have switched keys)

Good point about the key, but I always use my one key. The other one is with my wife along with her other bunch of keys.

Car battery should be ok, although I have never had to check it. I am due to take the car in to get an oil service, and summer tires, maybe I'll have them check.
