As the title implies... my radio cuts out very briefly under hard acceleration.

The car is a 2004 545 with 98,000kms of largely trouble free driving. The battery was replaced a year or so ago.

Alternator about to go? Didn't find much using the search function... anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks.

I had the "major electronic failure" message come up with every hard breaking for a few days this summer - it turned out I had water in the spare wheel department and the battery department. Everytime I was breaking hard, the water was splashing around and drowning my electronic boxes in the spare wheel department and the battery. I discovered this on day 3 when my MPM module burned out and I had to replace it.

This water in the battery compartment is starting to worry me. Do they check this area during service or is this something that we should check, once in a while?

I am actually planning to drill a f***ing hole at the bottom of this compartment, and one at the bottom of the spare wheel compartment. Both are a PITA to check, especially the spare wheel, and after replacing the MPM module and finding no visible leaks in the panoramic roof drainage system, I hate this whole stupid idea of the geniuses in Munich so much, that I will just take the drill and show them what a great engineer I am! I only have to figure out where to drill the holes so that I dont cut any other important components (airbag or ABS sensors somewhere underneath? Or a fuel pipe? it would be a great location, dear Herr Ing. Muller!) and dont cause corrosion down the road..

Sorry for the emotional post but I am sure you will understand
