So Iceman. If you have nav, then you have radio Professional. Does this mean that MP3 will work in the changer? This is a very confusing topic.

If you have nav you have the radio pro. Radio pro can play MP3 with a software update, but because you have nav you have to wait for the software release in September. MP3 playback is only for the in-dash CD player, not for the CD changer...

That, in summary, means NO ONE IN THE USA can play MP3 CDs until September.

Please see the below post by "Asahi". His car was completed on March 17th, has Sirius and Nav and also can play MP3s. I am wondering if having factory-installed Sirius somehow upgrades the "Radio"/software that allows you to play MP3s right now in the US. Any comments, or is there is a possibility that Asahi was mistakenly playing regular CDs but thought he was playing MP3s.

How can I se what type of radio I have? What is the difference between radio business and professional?

Worldwide there are three levels of audio.

1. business - I think it has only 8 speakers not subs under the seat. ( This is not avaialbel in the US)
2. Pro - 10 speakers( this is lowest level in US)
3. HI-FI - 13 speakers ( addtitional speaker in center of dash and two in Parcel shelf) with Logic7.

If that is true I have no clue what kind of software bug gave him the MP3 ability. Good for him!

NO!

That's NOT correct!!!

Standard
Hi-Fi (standard in the US)
L7

That's the sound system!!!

The radios:

business (standard)
professional

If you have nav you have radio pro, no matter if it's nav bus or pro.
In Erope you can also order the radio pro as an option if you don't have nav (not in the US though).
If you upgrade the sound system to Hi-Fi or L7 you don't need the radio pro!
The US starts with Hi-Fi as standard sound system. But that's ONLY a sound system, not the radio! If you get L7 you don't have radio pro, unless you are in Europe and ordered radio pro or you have nav...

BMW NAVI Pro - bigger screen, and it shows map while navigation is active
2 indash slots for CD + DVD

BMW Navi Business - smaller screen, no map function
just one indash slot
